The New ShadoWind

Description

This came to me after coming across the Graphic Novel Thor: Goddess of Thunder in a Waterstones' Bookstore, mixed with the legend of Excalibur (The Sword in the Stone).

BACKGROUND
Several months following the final defeat of the Ice Warriors, and Sir Fangar finally getting laid to final rest (a mysterious decapitation in front of Laval & Eris), Ewald presented some strange discoveries before the Lion Tribe: Lavertus wasn't the original ShadoWind, neither was he the first one. There had been many others, but the last one vanished 150 years before Lavertus, as ShadoWind, turned up at that Golden CHI tournament in Season 1.

Seems that true power of ShadoWind came from a mystic hammer (made from a rare metal alloy found within Mount Cavora itself) that chose its wielder. This hammer has the ability to create its own thunder, lightning and give the wielder incredible strength beyond that of a Rhino, the gift of flight without wings (even through space) and a strong bond with the hammer, both physically and telepathically.
But should the wielder ever get separated from the hammer for too long, then he would revert back to their original form. The hammer itself is a fickle mistress to serve, with the ability to save worlds, or even destroy them, the wielder must be sure not to be worthy of the hammer too much, but be worthy of the name of ShadoWind. But the longer the wielder carries the hammer, the harder it becomes whenever it's time to letting go of it and returning to normal form again.

Only Lavertus never found that hammer. All he ever found were the Speedor and the ShadoWind Armour. Seemed that without the hammer, Lavertus could been seen as either unworthy of carrying on that title, even though he retired from being ShadoWind following the Great Illumination, or be donned an impostor in the ShadoWind legacy.
So a quest, with half the Lion and Crocodile Tribes, plus Worriz, Rogon, Eris & Eglor, Spikka & Scarlett, Mootah, Razar, Breezor, Skinnet, Bearae, Bladvic and Gorzan was set to find it. Luckily the legend told of where to find the hammer; placed on a boulder in a lush valley beyond the Outlands where not even Scorm dared to tread - mainly because the Legend Beast were guarding it and they skillfully lead the Outlander Tribes away before they discovered the hammer. Thankfully, they let the Citizens of Chima through.
Inscribed on the hammer were these words; "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of...ShadoWind", so Lavertus went to lift the hammer, but Worriz knocked him to one side, claiming that someone younger should have a try.
Worriz tried to lift the hammer off the boulder...and nearly dislocated his arms for it. Cragger tried, with Crominus egging him on, as well as Razar and Rogon joining too, till Gorzan broke them up on the grounds of unfairness.

Others tried, one by one, but none could even budge it. Only Bearae and Eris didn't try. Perhaps neither of them fancied the idea of leading a double-life.

But when Lavertus tried — nothing happened. It seemed Lavertus was indeed unworthy of being ShadoWind. Downhearted, the quest was disbanded and returned home...leaving the hammer peacefully where it was — or so they all thought. But all agreed that, like the Legend Beasts, there must always a ShadoWind. But when that'll be, they weren't sure.

Some time later, Lavertus ordered Moota to take his ShadoWind armor from his Outpost and leave it with the hammer, ready for the next ShadoWind to come along. Moota quickly returned to inform everyone that Lavertus's ShadoWind armour & Speedor had vanished, Plovar reported that the hammer had disappeared - and so had Laval's sister, Leonite!! And that whoever took them, had been sighted on Earth, in the Human World!

Laval felt that someone had stolen his uncle's life and went to seek vengeance on this insult. He soon found a Female ShadoWind (a lioness) and, even with her struggling explanations, a battle was in session, in spite of the fact this new ShadoWind was in the middle of rescuing people at the time. It was only till an electric blast threw them apart that Laval saw sense, especially seeing the hammer in action and it flew right past him only for this new ShadoWind to catch. He accepted the hammer's choice, but the whereabouts of his sister were still unconfirmed (luckily for him, this new ShadoWind wasn't his sister — that was proved by her kissing him). When the rescue job was completed with Laval's help, Leonite was soon found. Seems she'd tried to help earlier and got herself captured.

Laval then brought the new ShadoWind back to the Lion Temple. She explained to everybody there that she never asked for this life, but she'd heard the hammer calling, so she simply answered it, and in this new guise was she. Lavertus understood the hammer's choice and redeemed himself of the title of ShadoWind, fully giving it to the new one, who gladly accepted it.
The only one not happy was Crominus, who then spent many days trying to have this new ShadoWind unmasked, and dubbed as a thieving witch. Laval too, wanted to find out who she really was, but went at a different angle instead. He knew that it wasn't Leonite, neither was it Langueia or Eris, since they were both with him when the disappearances were reported. But who she is is a whole other story....

Yet, later onwards, atop of Spiral Mountain ShadoWind receives an unexpected visit from Lagravis, Crunket, Ewald, Grumlo and Bearae, who warned her that, unlike Laval's investigation, Crominus's wrath will be more concerning, especially as Crunket can't seem to make him change his ways over it.
Yet the others offer her their full blessings, for she carries the hammer well when no one else could even budge it, but also warnings of dark tidings that now come with the hammer and cannot be avoided, no matter what ShadoWind's secrets are, trouble will come after her (surprisingly she's not afraid), even Ewald himself repeats the warns of the hammer being a fickle mistress. Yet ShadoWind vows, in the sight of Mount Cavora, the moon & stars, and all those before her that she'll die before dishonoring the legacy of ShadoWind (Lagravis prays never to hold her to that vow)

But before parting, Crunket asks a bizarre question; "How does it feel to be ShadoWind?" When ShadoWind ask them all how do they imagine it, none of them are even close - not even when Bearae says "Unimaginable".

As they watch ShadoWind depart, Bearae says to Lagravis "You know something? I should've picked up the darn thing when I had the chance..."

As you can see, I've crossed the ShadoWind Armour with the Thor Goddess appearance. Gone is half the visor and the lenses in the helmet, as you can clearly see.

But who do you viewers think she really is? Is she one of the women who have entered Laval's life, be they human or from Chima? (Just remember that the hammer changed the new wielder and this furry appearance is from the hammer.) Is it really Crooler, using this as a plot to infiltrate Chima as her final attempt of conquest? Or perhaps Lavertus had an apprentice between his banishment from Chima and Laval coming into his life that he'd just forgotten about?

Who knows? But at least Laval will have fun trying to find out at least...

NOTE: This is my first attempt at drawing ShadoWind's armour, so forgive me if I've gone a bit wonky on the details...though the special shoes were inspired by :iconturtle-arts:

Pretty good.

Though, her right arm is a bit short.
